Encouraging Young People to Become Social Entrepreneurs
About

Between 2019 and 2020, the social entrepreneurship project entitled "Encouraging Youth to Become Social Entrepreneurs" was implemented by UNDP. This project had as its main objective to promote and conduct an innovative concept that can encourage the youth population to become social entrepreneurs and demonstrate the transformative power of socially innovative enterprises. As implementing partners, we highlight the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship and the District Councils of Agua Grande and Mé-Zochi.  About 150 young people developed their skills in social entrepreneurship, in the social business aspect, delivered at a distance by the NGO Yunus and Youth, during the months of August and November 2019, in the Social Entrepreneurship Follow-up Centres (CAJES).

IMPLEMENTATION

After the end of the social entrepreneurship skills development process, 30 social business plans were shortlisted for the final event in December 2019, in which 15 projects emerged as winners, in different areas (agriculture, compost production, product transformation, health and wellness, new technologies, among others). The winning projects benefited from an implementation grant from UNDP.
