This fund is intended to support companies (SMEs) with projects in the field of tourism and associated industries. Its main objectives are to support the resumption of business in the area of tourism in the post-pandemic phase COVID 19, and also to promote the appearance of new projects in this area developed by existing companies with proven capacity.

The focus on Tourism and the industries associated with its value chain, aiming at strengthening existing businesses, replacing imports involving local products and resources, improving the training and conditions of workers and promoting innovation through new offers are the main ingredients of this Fund. Examples of areas to be affected are hotels, restaurants, agriculture, handicrafts, livestock, fisheries, etc…

This fund has an allocation of USD 300,000 with a maximum funding of USD 25,000 per approved application.

• Empresas Unipessoais detidas por jovens santomenses (18 a 40 anos à data de 31/12/2020).
• PME’s já existentes e registadas em São Tomé e Príncipe. Com capital social maioritariamente santomense (51%) e com pelo menos um sócio jovem santomense.
• Entidades e organizações com outra forma jurídica legal podem também participar desde que tenham contabilidade organizada, tenham sócios fundadores são tomenses, que a sua atividade tenha relevância comprovada na área do turismo e na direção tenha um jovem santomense.
• Cada empresa ou organização só pode estar envolvido numa candidatura e não pode estar a beneficiar de nenhuma fonte de financiamento promovida pelo PNUD ou pelo Ministério da Juventude, Desporto e Empreendedorismo.

The Contest involved an initial bid with 81 entries. Of these, 25 applications were selected by a jury that underwent a training and mentoring period to improve the initial application and submit the final application. This process took place between July and November 2020.

The evaluation jury selected the best 12 projects for implementation. The results were released on February 4, 2021.

The approved applications signed a contract based on the presented business plan, subject to the defined rules and procedures. The entire implementation process has technical monitoring and associated mentoring to provide better conditions for contract execution and project implementation.
